Alexander Zverev’s Road To Recovery

One of the scariest injuries we have seen occurred during the semi-finals match between Rafael Nadal and Alexander Zverev (Sascha). The injury that Sascha sustained was deemed to be too “bad” to be replayed on television. That freak incident caused the current ATP ranked world number 2 to retire from the match during the second set. Rafael Nadal then went on to win his 14th Roland-Garros title.

After having retired from the match, he had medical checks in France before returning to Germany where he underwent more checks. He had torn all three of his lateral ligaments in his right ankle, requiring him to undergo a surgery to stabilize his ankle for recovery. He has since started to undergo rehabilitation treatment for his ankle.

Just a month after his surgery, he shared a video of himself back on his foot walking with just an ankle brace. Not only that, on the 18 of July, Head and Sascha posted a video of him back on the court training, but of course he was not fully on his feet yet. I am sure that the current world no. 2 will be back on the court in no time. We wish Sascha a speedy recovery!
