Quick Guide to Getting Started in Tennis

Some useful information to get you ready

Getting Started Tennis Lessons

+ Decide on private or group classes.

Decide if you would like to do private or group lessons. Private 1-1 lessons are great if you prefer more intensive sessions that can help you progress faster. Group lessons are more affordable, and provide you with opportunities to meet new people and make new friends. You can also opt for pair lessons if you have a partner.

If you are registering for your kids we recommend group classes, as children will learn well together with their peers.

+ I want private classes.

If you decide on private lessons, do let us know your preferred days and times, and we will assign a dedicated coach to you based on your schedule. We can have lessons at your residence, if you have a court available.

If you do not have a court, we can arrange for the classes at our venues (Eighth Floor Tennis and SUTD Sports and Recreation Centre), or at any public courts close to you. You should plan your lessons at least 1 week in advance with your coach.

+ I want adult group classes.

Please see the Adult Schedule. We have regular classes daily and you may join any at your convenience.

+ I want kids group classes.

Our kids (4-13 years old) group classes are held at Eighth Floor Tennis (Bedok). See Kids Schedule.

+ What are the class fees?

We offer different packages and require payment of fees in advance so that we can confirm your spot. Please see the Fee Structure.

+ Will I need to get my own equipment?

You only need to have your own racket, as your coach will provide the balls. We offer rental of rackets if you do not have. You may also purchase a racket from our pro shop at Eighth Floor Tennis (Bedok).

+ What's the attire?

Any sports attire with preferably a pair of tennis shoes.

+ Do a weather check.

Most of the tennis courts in Singapore are not sheltered, so be mindful of inclement weather. Do check with your coach one hour before your lesson if there needs to be any rescheduling due to rain.

+ What are the rules of tennis?

We explain in detail here Tennis Rules.
