Ugo Humbert Claims His 6th Singles Title At The Dubai Tennis Championships

Frenchmen Ugo Humbert continues his impressive form to claim his sixth career singles title on the ATP Tour at the Dubai Duty Free ATP500 event, beating Alexander Bublik in straight sets 6-4, 6-3 in an hour and 25 minutes. This title is the second title of the year for the Frenchmen following his win over Grigor Dimitrov at the Marseille Open earlier this year. Alexander Bublik was also looking to win his second title of the year going into the finals.

They played a tight first set; however, Bublik was unable to hold his serve at 4-5, allowing Humbert to break and win the first set. The second set was less than what we would have hoped for as Bublik was broken early in the set and did not regain his footing in the match. The Kazakh had opportunities to break back when Humbert was serving out the match at 5-3, but the Frenchmen overcame his nerves and closed out the match at his second time of asking.

The finalists will both rise up to their career-high rankings. Ugo Humbert will rise up to no. 15 and Bublik to no. 19 on Monday. Humbert continues his impressive record for finals and improves the record to 6-0. He becomes only the third man in the open era to win six back-to-back finals. Now, moving into the American swing, we will likely see them back in action at Indian Wells.
