Team World Successfully Defends The Laver Cup Title 2023

Team World successfully pulled off a title defence as Ben Shelton and Frances Tiafoe secured their last 3 points from winning the first match out of the four scheduled matches on Day 3. They played the fiery pair Andrey Rublev and Hubert Hurkazc who played extremely well, but Team World kept their composure and managed to clinch the win after playing to two-set tie-breaks, 7-6, 7-6.

In this edition of the Laver Cup, Team Europe was missing many key players this year following the retirement of Roger Federer, injured Rafael Nadal, and missing players such as Novak Djokovic and Stefanos Tsitsipas. Team Europe seems to be struggling with missing stronger members.

Team Europe only managed to secure two points from the whole tournament. Casper Ruud defeated Tommy Paul 7-6, 6-2 on day 2 and secured the 2 points, but they lost every other match they have played throughout the tournament. To produce an epic comeback and stop Team World’s title defence, Team Europe had to win all of the four scheduled matches on the last day of the tournament; however, no chance was given at all.

Team World secured the Laver Cup title for 2 consecutive years after losing the first 4 editions of the event. They won overwhelmingly this year with a score of 13-2, dropping only one match against Team Europe.
